Knitted in a 2x2 rib that stretches to fit most heads, with a cuff deep enough to turn twice over the ears. The merino is blended with a little nylon so the rib keeps its spring through a winter of being stuffed in a pocket. Nothing sewn on the outside; a single blank tab inside the cuff.

Merino rib stretches if it is pulled on by the crown. Pull it on by the cuff and it keeps its shape for years. It will felt in a hot wash.
