A 5-gauge rib - five stitches to the inch - in a yarn that is half wool for warmth and half cotton so it can be machine washed on a wool cycle. The collar is a double-height roll that folds twice or stands up; the shoulder drops and the body is relaxed. Knitted in Tilburg, forty minutes from our studio.
Wool-blend rib sheds a little for the first few wears and will felt if it goes above 30 °C or into a dryer. Dry it flat; hung wet, it grows a size.
